Since 1981, I have been a criminal defense attorney representing Hoosiers in Indianapolis and the surrounding counties defending individuals charged with committing a wide variety of crimes.  After nearly forty years of standing up for my clients against the government and facing down prosecutors, I’ve seen their tactics first-hand.

I understand that getting accused of any crime or having charges filed against you is extremely serious. It can affect your job, your family, and your future. Over the course of my career as a criminal defense lawyer, I’ve represented people accused of crimes such as theft, child molesting, rape, incest, crimes involving guns and firearms, intimidation, and violent crimes against others.

Even just getting charged with a crime is a serious matter, and it is essential you have a lawyer on your side who has the knowledge and experience to defend your liberty and reputation.  In this day and age, many people assume a person accused of a crime is guilty, and that it is their job to prove their innocence.   The Indiana and U.S. Constitutions guarantee you certain rights, and you need to have an attorney who understands those protections.

For example, you might have rights even before the police arrest you.  Most people are familiar with Miranda rights.  Depending on the situation, law enforcement must advise you of certain rights–like the right to a lawyer and the right to remain silent–before they ask you questions.  If they do not, that could mean that the prosecutor is not allowed to use certain information that you told police.

You also have the right against unreasonable searches and seizures.  If the police violate this right, the evidence they obtain could be disallowed.

During the course of your case, you also have other rights such as the right to a lawyer, the right to a jury trial, the right against self-incrimination, and the right to confront your accuser.

I have defended people against many types of criminal cases.  Below is a partial list of the criminal defense cases I handle as a criminal law attorney:

  • DUI
  • Drug Crimes
  • Battery
  • Handgun Violations
  • Murder
  • Manslaughter
  • Sex Crimes
  • Robbery, Burglary, and Theft

*See Indiana Code for full description of all crimes and statutes. This is a partial listing only.
